Diesel generators (DGs) are electric generators with a diesel engine (also known as diesel Gensets). The engine generator, in this case, is a specific type. Most diesel compression-ignition engines run on diesel fuel, but some are adapted for other liquid fuels or natural gas.

As an emergency power supply if the grid fails or as a power source with more complex applications like peak-lopping, grid support, and export to the grid, diesel generators are used anywhere there is no electricity grid connection.

To avoid low-load or power shortages, diesel generators must be properly sized. It isn’t easy to size modern electronics due to their nonlinear characteristics. The open cycle gas turbine is more efficient at full load when it is about 50 MW or larger, and it is much smaller, with comparable capital costs, and far more compact; however, diesel arrays are sometimes preferable to open cycle gas turbines for regular part-loading due to their superior efficiency, even at these power levels. It is located 35 km from Leh in Nimmu, where the fast-flowing Zanskar river meets the meandering Indus river (Sindhu). Here, an ethereal landscape surrounds an enchanting confluence. River rafting is also possible at this location, which is regarded as the highest river rafting point in the world.
